Turkey plays “extremely strong” role worldwide in promoting peace
Speaking to international outlets during the second foreign ministers’ meeting of the Balkans Peace Platform in Istanbul, Ibrahimovic emphasized Türkiye’s strategic significance, noting: “In our region, where peace and stability are of great importance, Türkiye's role is quite significant.”
Reflecting on Friday’s meeting, he said that numerous constructive and positive discussions took place, expressing confidence that the platform will produce beneficial outcomes for peace, stability, and shared interests.
“Not only regionally, but globally, especially in challenging geopolitical situations, the participation of a country like Türkiye in platforms like the Balkans Peace Platform is very valuable,” he added.
Türkiye-Montenegro Relations
On bilateral ties, Ibrahimovic described Türkiye and Montenegro as a “good example of how to maintain good relations,” stressing the need to continue this cooperative approach.
He highlighted that both nations enjoy “excellent relations” across sectors such as economy, tourism, culture, and security. Noting the popularity of Montenegro among Turkish visitors, he said: “Last year, 165,000 Turkish tourists visited our country.”
“That’s an impressive figure,” he remarked, expressing satisfaction with the Turkish people’s interest.
Ibrahimovic also pointed out that Montenegrins living in Türkiye act as an “important bridge” between the two nations, with approximately 250,000 Montenegrins currently residing in Türkiye.
He further noted Türkiye’s economic role in Montenegro, stating that it is the largest foreign investor in the country, contributing 15% of foreign investments in 2025.
